Accounting graduates advise and assist management in controlling the financial operations of a business and in planning for its growth. They prepare accounting entries from source documents as well as post and summarize that information into meaningful financial statements. Accounting is well- suited to persons who like their problem solving skills to be challenged and enjoy working with detail. While some accounting positions require a bachelor's degree, it is possible to sit for the Certified Public Accountant licensing exam in Ohio with an associate degree and some additional pre-requisites.

North Central State College provides the Associate of Arts transfer degree to students planning to complete a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree at a public college or university in Ohio.  The AA degree includes the core curriculum courses most baccalaureate programs require.  The Board of Regents has agreed that the AA degree will transfer to all of Ohio’s public colleges and universities.

Bioscience is one of the newest areas of interest in the medical, agricultural, manufacturing and criminal justice fields. This broad-based program will give you the basic knowledge of chemistry required by the versatile careers available, as well as the processes, techniques and safety issues required in the lab. Jobs are available for Bioscience graduates today, and for the foreseeable future. You could find employment in medical research, agricultural research, product testing, criminal investigation and pharmacology.

This program is the first important step in gaining college-level knowledge in the field of Business Management. Business Management is a highly practical, immediately applicable major, which builds upon foundational courses such as economics, management and marketing. Demand for successful business graduates comes from all segments of the economy in both the for-profit and non-profit sector. Some second-year courses can lead to degree options in specialized areas such as International Business, Marketing and Business Education.

The Digital Media Technology program is comprised of four unique tracks: Digital Arts, Graphic Design, Video/Animation and Web Design. Students apply technology to assemble graphics, text, sounds and multi-media to communicate a message. Students complete an internship and/or a capstone multimedia project as part of their degree. Graduates can find work in numerous environments industries including traditional advertising, printing, video/audio production, film, animation, photography and multimedia.

North Central State College offers three Early Childhood Education programs that satisfy Ohio Jobs and Family Services requirements for administrators of child care programs. These programs also satisfy requirements for the Ohio Department of Education Pre-K Associate Teacher Licensure. Through the Child Development Center on the NC State campus, students have access to a hands-on lab that is National Association for the Education of Young Children accredited. Coursework includes understanding the growth and development of children, planning the Early Childhood curriculum, guidance and discipline, nutrition, understanding and working with families, working with diverse learners and administering child care programs.

Install, troubleshoot, and upgrade automation equipment used in manufacturing. Design and modify software used in computer-controlled manufacturing. Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills are important in this field.

This program prepares students to apply electrical and electronic theory and related knowledge to design, build, test, repair, and modify electrical equipment in industry or other commercial businesses. Students will learn electronic circuits, integrated circuits, digital electronics, microcontrollers, AC/DC drives, industrial electronics and instrumentation. They will conduct creative design projects in areas such alternative energy. Graduates find employment in industries such as telecommunication companies, manufacturing plants, schools and colleges, retail business, self-employment.

Health Information Technology is a pathway with credentials that expand as your education progresses. Students who complete the first five quarters of coursework, may take the national exam to receive a Certified Coding Associated (CCA) credential. Many students begin working as a CCA while continuing their work toward their associate degree. When they receive their associate degree, they may become a Registered Health Information Technician (after successfully completing the RHIT Certification Examination). Graduates can find work in businesses such as hospitals, medical offices and insurance companies.

Human Services is a profession that focuses on helping children, adolescents, and adults with a variety of needs, such as mental health, substance abuse issues, physical disabilities, and more. Graduates will be placed in work settings including: mental health centers, mental retardation agencies, drug and alcohol programs, public schools, domestic violence shelters, juvenile and adult corrections, nursing homes, social welfare agencies, etc. Graduates can apply to become an Assistant Social Worker through the state of Ohio.

Integrated Systems Technology (IST) in Advanced Manufacturing is a new, high-demand career opportunity that involves cross-training in the areas of electrical, mechanical, electronic and fluid power systems. American industries are becoming much more dependent upon the use of high-tech equipment that involves multiple, integrated systems. The program emphasizes operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of high-tech equipment. The curriculum is offered in a modular format that can be adapted to the education and career goals of the student. 

This course was designed for students who want to become more proficient in language and literacy skills, with the goal of perfecting teaching skills in language arts and literacy.

Graduates with this Practical Nursing Certification are prepared to give skillful, bedside care that may include procedures, such as assisting individuals with hygiene needs, nutrition and elimination needs, assessing vital functions, administering medications, and performing wound care. There are employment opportunities that provide satisfying and rewarding work in a variety of settings. Practical nursing is best suited to individuals who are interested in people and enjoy assisting others

Mechanical Engineering Technicians are involved with a variety of projects: preparing design specifications; production analysis; the installation, maintenance, and operation of machines, tools, products; and manufacturing processes. Students in this program will study engineering drawing, mechanical design technology, machine design technology, and materials science. They will conduct creative design projects in areas such as alternative energy.

Our students can usually transfer an Associate's Degree in Mechatronics through an articulation agreement with a university. The Bachelors degree can often be completed via distance learning, accomodating the working student.

With this associate degree, you could open your own business, go on to pursue a bachelor’s degree, or both. This is an opportunity for the licensed professional to pursue additional education to prepare for management.

Registered nurses work in a variety of settings including hospitals, long-term care centers, home health agencies, hospices, group medical practices, and community-related programs. In addition to providing direct patient care, the RN often coordinates the health care team. Key coursework includes gerontological, medical/surgical, psychiatric, pediatric and obstetrical nursing. NC State graduates have an outstanding success rate in passing the NCLEX licensing examination for registered nurses.

NC State has over 40 agreements with four-year colleges and universities, to provide a smooth transition for students who want to pursue a bachelor’s degree. Through university partnerships, some four-year courses are also offered on the NC State campus or online.

Graduates with an associate degree in Human Services can be certified as an Assistant Social Worker through the State of Ohio. If you go on to a four-year program and earn a bachelor’s degree in Social Work, you could become a Licensed Social Worker or Chemical Dependency Counselor (after passing the licensure exam).

This program prepares people for careers involving the production and/or maintenance and repair of various types of dies, machining, super-abrasive cutting, grinding, and Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) programming and operations used in industrial manufacturing. The technician may work in a job shop, maintenance shop or directly on the production floor of a manufacturing plant.
